Data & workspace basics

Everything starts on the Workbench: pick what you want to do, put your data in the template that appears, check the preview, and run. This page is the click-by-click tour of that surface; what each test means is in the test guides.

Starting an analysis

Pick a test

Workbench → What would you like to do? → choose the test card (the header’s Features nav jumps between them)

The landing list groups the tests as on the Features page. Choosing one opens its data template; the Workbench tab in the header brings you back to the list at any time.

Open another analysis alongside

Analyses drawer (the ☰ button at the top left, “Show / hide the project sidebar”) → + new analysis

Each analysis is a tab of its own; the previous one stays as it was. Double-click a tab to rename it.

Entering data

Type into the template

Data grid → click a cell → type → Tab / Enter to move on

The grid is a spreadsheet: arrow keys and Tab move between cells; Enter moves down. Blank cells are simply skipped by the analysis.

Paste from a spreadsheet

Copy the block in Excel / Sheets → Data grid → Paste (or Ctrl-V in the top-left cell)

The block is placed from the cell you are in; rows and columns grow to fit. The grid keeps your labels if the pasted block carries none.

Load the example dataset

Data grid → Load example

Every test ships a small example in exactly the shape it needs — the fastest way to see what the template expects before pasting your own data.

Add rows, columns, groups

Data grid → + row / + column (one-factor tests) — + A row / + B group (two-factor tests)

In a two-factor template the rows are the levels of factor A and each column block is a level of factor B; replicates sit inside a block.

Group and ungroup columns

Select column headers → Group / Ungroup

Grouping declares that a set of columns are replicates of one level; ungrouping splits them back into separate levels.

Rename groups and labels

Click a row or column label → type the new name → Enter

Labels are what the figure and the tables print, so name them as they should appear in the paper (units included, if you like).

Undo a wrong paste

Data grid → Clear changes

Restores the grid to its state at the last run (or the empty template).

Preview and confirm

Read the preview line

Above the grid → the pill showing levels × levels and the replicate count

The preview says how MinutePlot read the table — how many levels of each factor and how many replicates. If it does not match your design, fix the grouping before running.

Confirm a flat table

Multivariate and regression tests → paste → Confirm in the preview box

For column-per-variable data (PCA, PLS, correlation, heatmap, regression) MinutePlot shows a read-only preview of what it parsed; Confirm locks it and reveals the method options. Every row is reachable by scrolling the preview.

Run

Method card → Confirm and Analyze (t-tests and ANOVA); flat-table tools: Preview dataConfirmRun PCA / Run PLS regression / Fit model / Fit logistic model

The results section appears below with the tables, the figure and the figure-styling panel; the analysis is saved automatically in the browser (web) or on disk (desktop).
