Figure styling

The Figure styling panel sits under every figure. Its tabs are the same across analyses — Text, Axes, Colour, Marks, Letters, Reference lines, Panels, One panel, Legend, Annotate, Frame & size, Export, Saved styles — with a few figure-specific tabs (Points, Summary, Means, Trees, Curves, Colour bar) where they apply. Every change redraws the figure at once.

Text

Set the title and the axis labels

Figure styling → Text → Title / Axis: (select the axis) → type the text

Axis labels default to your row and column names; the title is blank until you type one.

Change fonts and sizes

Figure styling → Text → Base font / Text size; per element: Per-axis text: → Font and Label size / Number size

The base font applies everywhere; the per-axis controls override it for one axis at a time (label and numbers separately). Legend and title fonts have their own selectors in the Legend and Text tabs.

Sample names on the axis

Figure styling → Text → Sample names: font / All names (override):

Multivariate figures label samples; the override field replaces every name at once (one per line).

Axes

Set the range and the interval

Figure styling → Axes → Axis: select the y-axis (or x) → Axis ranges (from, to) → Mark every (the tick interval)

Leave a field blank to let MinutePlot choose it; set both ends to freeze the axis across figures you want comparable.

Break the y-axis (or x-axis)

Figure styling → Axes → Axis: select the axis → Split settings: → tick Split → set the lower range (from, to) and the upper range (from, to)

The axis is drawn in two segments with a break mark between them; each segment has its own tick interval (Mark every). Use it for one outlying group, not to hide a gap the reader should see.

Ticks, numbers and gridlines

Figure styling → Axes → Numbers font / Number size; Gridlines: on/off; Axis line width

Gridlines follow the tick interval; the axis-line width applies to both axes.

Reorder the categories

Figure styling → Axes → Order x → drag or pick the order

The order also drives the letters’ layout and the table; the data grid is untouched.

Colour

Change bar, point or line colours

Figure styling → Colour → Palette (a whole scheme) or Colour for <series> (one series) → pick or type a Hex value

Palettes are colour-blind-safe sets; a single-series override wins over the palette for that series.

Fill, outline and opacity

Figure styling → Colour → Fill: / Outline / Opacity

Outline sets the edge colour and width of bars and markers; opacity applies to fills.

Colour bar (heatmap, correlation)

Figure styling → Colour bar → palette, range (from, to), Position

The range clips the colour scale; symmetric ranges keep zero at the midpoint for correlations.

Marks

Bars: width and gap

Figure styling → Marks → Bar width / Gap between bars

Widths are fractions of the slot; the gap is between bars of one group.

Markers and lines

Figure styling → Marks → Marker (shape) / Marker size / Line width / Trace width

Series figures and regressions use markers and lines; bar figures use the bar controls.

Error bars

Figure styling → Marks (or Summary on a summary figure) → Error bars (SD, SEM, 95 % CI, none) → Error cap width

Histogram bins

Figure styling → Marks → Histogram bins

Where a distribution panel is shown.

Letters

Show, place and size the significance letters

Figure styling → Letters → on/off → Placement (above the bar, above the error bar) → Size / Position (offset)

Two-factor figures print the two-tier letters (capitals for factor A, lower-case for B); the Letters tab controls both tiers together.

Reference lines

Add a horizontal or vertical reference line

Figure styling → Reference lines → + → value, axis, label → style (colour, width, dash)

Any number of lines; each is listed with its own remove button. Available on ANOVA, summary, regression and series figures.

Panels and One panel

Arrange sub-panels

Figure styling → Panels → Panel columns / Spacing:

Shown when the figure has several panels (per-group histograms, per-series panels).

Style one panel differently

Figure styling → One panel → select the panel → change its options

Per-panel overrides sit on top of the shared style; clear them from the same tab.

Legend

Position, columns, title and font

Figure styling → Legend → Legend position / Legend placement (inside, outside) / Legend columns / Legend title / Legend size / Font

Turning the legend title on prints the factor name above the entries.

Annotate

Add text or an arrow

Figure styling → Annotate → Text or Arrow → place it on the figure → drag to move

Annotations are saved with the analysis and travel into the Organizer and the exports.

Frame & size

Figure size and resolution

Figure styling → Frame & size → Size: width × height → DPI

Sizes are in the unit shown next to the fields; DPI applies to raster downloads (PNG, TIFF).

Frame, border and panel border

Figure styling → Frame & size → Frame: / Border: (Border colour, Border width) / Panel border

The frame is the axes box; the border is drawn around the whole figure.

Saved styles

Save a style and apply it elsewhere

Figure styling → Saved styles → Save (name it) → on another figure: Saved styles → pick → Apply

A saved style carries every tab’s settings; Harmonise applies the current style to every figure in the Organizer at once.

Reset

Figure styling → Saved styles → Reset to default

Returns the figure to MinutePlot’s defaults; the data and results are untouched.
